ADI DASSER

Another case of brand imitation. Indeed the globally known three stripes is to any consumer synonymous to Adidas. Started as the trefoil by the German Adi Dassler, in the recent years of its success it has been changing its logo from the trefoil to the brand with three stripes. This sports goods producing company is not only known for its fine products for comfort in sports, it is also a very fashionable item now in this modern age of eccentricity and comfort. The brand Adidas also has many loyal consumers thanks to the great success of its number one rival Nike. Now many pop icons are labeling themselves with this brand. Starting way back from the rap group Run DMC all the way to the more recent hip hop artist Missy Elliot. This identity has an immeasurable value to it and if someone is going to cheat on this value, they better pay the price.
In my opinion, I think that Adidas was lenient on Collective because of the immense value of their brand name and its popularity. Not only its long history, Adidas is a true authentic brand that consumers can go to for good quality, comfort and popularity. In my opinion these three facts are more than enough reasons to penalize Collective in a more severe way.
Here in Korea, there are plenty of imitation Adidas, however they are not just robbing the logo and putting another name to it. They actually have the Adidas logo on their products. Although this might not be an ethically correct way of doing business, they are still promoting Adidas.
